The power of wind

Oscar Badke was an avid enthusiast of new technologies and built this power generator windmill from a pattern he saw in a popular mechanics magazine. He redesigned the blade so it gave a greater charge to a bank of batteries stored at the base. The late Velmer Staines donated the windmill in memory of Oscar to Templin Museum and plans are underway to restore it so that it can power the adjacent telephone exchange.
