The House of Fashion

House of Fashion at the Templin Historical Museum

This was originally the teacher’s residence of Templin State School. It was constructed at the same time as the school in 1892 and also served as the postal receiving centre until about 1914. Following the closure of Templin State School, the house was home to single female teachers working in nearby Education Queensland schools. The Boonah Shire Council offered the building to the Society in 2006. The house has since been renovated with the assistance of a Jupiter’s Casino grant and now houses a significant textile collection dating from the 1880’s. Textiles are displayed on a rotational basis in purpose built display cabinets.
